Definition of illegal dumping

  Illegal dumping  is defined as the throwing away of solid waste in any public place, public road, public park or private property without permission or at the official solid waste disposal facility provided by the local government (Law Insider n.d.). Causes of illegal dumping

  1. High levels of general waste production: Research has shown that a higher level of overall waste production has a clear link with increased rates of illegal  dumping of waste  and the increasing amount of illegal dumping spots (Conserve Energy Future, n.d.).
